Observance of Cervical Cancer Conscious Month Celebration2018

Presidential Proclamation No. 368, series of 2003 declares the month of May of every year as Cervical Cancer Consciousness Month (CCCM) to raise awareness on cervical cancer prevention and importance of Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccination. In compliance to this, the Department of Health enjoins medical specialty societies, government and non-government organizations, professional associations and allied groups to observe the said event.
This year's theme is "Kalusugan ng Mag-ina ay Pahalagahan. Magpa-cervical cancer screening at Magpa-bakuna laban sa HPV!": which aims to increase awareness about cervical cancer prevention through screening for 25 years old and above mothers and HPV vaccine for their 9-13 years old female public school daughters.
The campaign emphasizes the importance of regular cervical cancer screening and encourages women to undergo the said screening such as Pap smear and visual inspection of the cervix using acetic acid (VIA).
What's in May?

May is declared as Hypertension Awareness Month through Proclamation No. 1761 signed in 2009 to prevent and control hypertension and its cardiovascular complications in the Philippines.
The awareness month aims to increase public awareness on the different risks of this progressive and lift threatening disease. Millions of Filipinos suffer from hypertension and its cardiovascular complications and thousands are unnecessarily disabled and/or die prematurely from it. In compliance to this, the Department of Health enjoins medical specialty societies, government and non-government organizations, professional associations and allied groups to celebrate the said event.
This year’s theme is "#BantayBP Magpacheck at ma-monitor. Now Na!". This aims to remind people to have regular checkup and monitoring of blood pressure. Likewise, promote the importance of a healthy lifestyle to prevent and control hypertension.
