Region Wide HIV Forum

DOH ROXIII together with the LGUs, line agencies and other stakeholders carries out last June 21, 2018, the first ever Region Wide HIV Forum with the goal to present local updates on HIV, program strategies and elicit support and commitment from local chief executives especially in the adoption and creation of a Local AIDS Council.
Per RA 8504 or the Philippine AIDS Prevention and Control Act, the national and local government's role is to establish HIV and AIDS prevention activities. The law has three targets: Information and Education Program, Comprehensive monitoring system and Strengthening of the Philippine National AIDS Council or PNAC.
Talakayan Part III
The “Talakayan” or otherwise known as the “Regional Learning Forum” was initiated by the Department of Health Regional Office XIII (DOH RO XIII) in partnership with the Davao Medical School Foundation, Inc. (DMSFI) last June 4, 2018 at Las Nieves Function Hall, Almont Inland Resort, Butuan City. Indeed, the regional learning forum was considered to be well attended because it was graced by the following eminent guests:

Dr. Myra Guzon- Biton
Dr. Jose R. Llacuna, Jr.,MD, MPH, CESO III,
Dr. Angelie Comia, & Dr. Jaqueline Frances Momville.
Representatives from the 24 municipalities headed by the Mayors and the Municipal Health Officers and their staff, Davao Medical School Foundation, Inc. , PhilHealth, DILG, POPCOM and other stakeholders.
It was a very important activity because it showcased the best practices of 25 municipalities from the Provinces of Agusan del Norte & Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte & Surigao del Sur as a result of the leadership journey of the Mayors & the Municipal Health Officers with the Development Management Officers (DMO) as their coaches. The stories shared can be concluded as the epitome of what bridging leadership is all about.
“Talakayan” is a conversation to draw-out lessons and stories from the health leaders which brought order and meaning to reduce, if not to totally eliminate disorder in the health system with Professor Hadji Balahadia, a faculty of Davao Medical School Foudation, Inc.
The summit featured the awarding of plaques & certificates to the municipalities and individuals using the following criteria:
1.No maternal deaths for 2 years (CY 2014 & CY 2015)
2.Green colored leadership and governance block (during and after colloquium)
3.Bridging Leadership Competencies
4.Improve health outcomes (IMR, FBD, SBA, FIC, CPR)
5. Documented Best Practices
The summit ended with the signing of the Pledge of Commitment to the Philippine Health Agenda led by Dr. Irma L. Asuncion and Regional Director Jose R. Llacuna, Jr.
