DOH Secretary Jean Pauline Ubial Caraga Visit

During the visit of Health Secretary Paulyn Jean B. Rosell-Ubial in the region of CARAGA last September 9-10, 2016, She shared to the staff and personnel of DOH ROXIII, Caraga Regional Hospital, and Drug Treatment and Rehabilitation Center (DTRC)-Caraga the Marching Orders of President Duterte for the health sector of the country:
1. “NO to Drugs!” - DOH and attached agencies must take this to the forefront priority, not just the rehab centers but to everyone including offices in promoting a drug-free workplace. We shall not focus only on the curative and rehab spectrum of our services but the promotion and prevention of health via Health Education Campaigns.
2. “NO to Corruption!” – We need to fix our system. There must be Zero (0) tolerance to corruption. All are called for to be vigilant in their workplace.
3. “Take Care of the Poor.” – As much as possible, as far as we can go, we should HELP the Poor.
Secretary Ubial stressed that the main driving force of everyone is to make sure that everyone is concerned towards Universal Health Care (UHC). The approach of the health system now is focused on a multidisciplinary and multi professional scheme to attain our UHC goals.
The Health Chief also commented on the change of mechanism feedback. “If there is a problem, and you didn’t call the attention of the responsible person, then, partly it’s your fault”, she said. The health system in the new health agenda includes the importance of everyone’s cooperation. Instead of complaints, everyone is encouraged to suggest; everyone is enjoined to give solutions to problems.
Health Secretary Ubial further presented the Duterte Health Agenda with the A-C-H-I-E-V-E definition and acronym whilst providing updates on the major changes expected under her listening leadership.
During her visit, she was also able to attend as Keynote Speaker on the Inauguration of Surigao del Norte Provincial Hospital in Placer, Surigao del Norte with Governor Sol F. Matugas, and the Community Health Summit in Surigao City with the Provincial Health Office staff, barangay health leaders and other invited guests. Together in her visit was Usec. Achilles Gerard Bravo and OIC-Asec. and Head of Central Luzon Visayas Cluster- Dr. Leonita Gorgolon.

PressCon on Zika Virus

Now that there has already been a case of Zika in the Philippines, DOH ROXIII reiterates to the public the FAQs of Zika Virus. Yesterday (September 8, 2016), a Press Conference was held at the Regional Director's office, DOH Caraga building to once again appeal to the media in disseminating information on Zika.
Level 1 TOT on Screening and Referral of Drug Dependent Surrenderees

A team from DOH Caraga and DTRC Caraga are attending a Level 1 TOT on Screening and Referral of Drug Dependent Surrenderees at The Royal Mandaya Hotel, Davao City. This aims to equip core teams from regions to facilitate training of more counselors to effectively assess and refer drug dependents in the community.
